After surgery or a hospital stay
After a joint replacement, a fracture or a hospital stay, recovery happens at home. Your therapist visits you there, works on the stairs, the bed and the chair you actually use, and keeps your surgeon's instructions in front of them.
This care is for you if
You had a hip, knee or shoulder operation, or a fracture
You came home after a hospital or rehab stay
You are getting stronger but stairs and getting up still worry you
Your surgeon asked you to keep up your therapy at home

What a visit looks like
Before the first visit
We ask for your surgeon's instructions and your discharge papers, so your therapist knows what to protect.
At the visit
Your therapist checks your movement and your pain, then starts exercises and walking practice you can repeat on your own.
Home health or outpatient
Medicare Part B can cover outpatient physical therapy at home if you are not getting home health at the same time. If a home health agency already visits you, tell us before we book; the two can't run at the same time. We check this with you.
- Chest pain, trouble breathing, a sudden severe headache or pain, new weakness or numbness, loss of bladder or bowel control, or a fall with a head injury needs emergency care now. Call 911.
