Balance and falls
A physical therapist visits your home and works on balance where you use it: the hallway, the bathroom door, the step out to the yard. You practice standing, turning and stepping with a hand nearby, and we show you what to change in a room so it is safer.
This care is for you if
You feel unsteady on stairs, curbs or uneven floors
You have stumbled or fallen and want to understand why
A family member worries about you walking alone
You want to keep gardening, walking and traveling

What a visit looks like
What we do
Your therapist checks your strength, your feet and how you stand and turn, then practices steps with you, with a hand on a belt.
What we look at in your home
Rugs, lighting, chair height and the stairs you use, so the changes that help are the ones that fit your rooms.
How many visits
It depends on what your therapist finds and how you respond. They talk it through with you and your family.
- Chest pain, trouble breathing, a sudden severe headache or pain, new weakness or numbness, loss of bladder or bowel control, or a fall with a head injury needs emergency care now. Call 911.
Questions about this care
Can a family member join the visit?
Yes. You choose who is in the room, and a family member who lives far away can join by phone or video.
What if I fall between visits?
If you are hurt or can't get up, call 911. If you are not hurt, call our office and tell your therapist at the next visit.
